Happy July 4th Mega-Orderers,

Even if you are here in the UK as I am, I think we have something to celebrate: 249 years ago some really smart, very forward minded people drafted a document not just to justify their rebellion against King George III but to put forth eternal principles. Principles which today are being violated. but which still provide a genuine moral and structural compass on how to run a free society. It is a shame America is declining. Truly. An America run by the principles in our founding document would be a force for good in our world. So I think Alex Hall Hall and I are right to lament and worry about the Decline of American Leadership and the rise of American corrupt bro-ligarchy.

We should look back at this magical foundational DoI document and its principles as we guide our resistance to Trump and other neo-populists around the globe who wish to take our freedoms.

Or who wish to celebrate successes that they don’t understand:

Ironically, I think there have been major successes vis deterrence in the Middle East and now is the time to push for a real deal to end the War in Gaza. I talked about that on the Jordan Harbinger show. Jordan is an amazing interviewer. He makes content approachable, fun, but gets to the nub of the strategic and humanitarian issues.

We spoke very openly about Trump and how sadly the Trumpians may not even grasp their own inadvertent successes.

AS YOU KNOW, I LOVE ME SOME CONTROVERSIAL POSITIONS LIKE SAYING TRUMP CAN BE COMPLETELY CORRUPT BUT ACHIEVE SOMETHINGS BIDEN NEVER COULD VIS IRAN/GAZA… AND NOW TO SOMETHING HYPERCONTRAVERSIAL. I THINK THE MORE YOU WANT STATE SECTOR PROGRAMS THE MORE YOU SHOULD ADVOCATE FOR A LONGER WORK WEEK.

You know your whole continent is in trouble if the Greeks are leading the way in terms of working hours! Personally, I want nationalized rail and world leading public utilities and a better health service and much better roads but it should start with the 60 hour week. People need to be working more than their parents generation not less. And our parents’ generation worked more than 50 hour weeks. Working hours in the EU is an embarrassment truly. You can’t have centre-left or socially capitalist policies with such a low hourly work week, I think this is something the left has really got majorly wrong… The idea of the low work week doesn’t align with left wing social policies. It is actually quite a right wing idea if you think about it. The left is supposed to be about Labour. Not about benefits. the low work week, aligns with a broken NHS, no innovation in Tech and overall embarrassment relative to East Asian and America innovation and productivity. Personally I’ve never worked as little as 50 hours a week and for the last twenty years i’ve never had more than 3 weeks vacation a year and I always check email and do work on weekends and holidays. And I know that if the world was set up where vendors and service people and government just worked a 60 hour week and was open on the weekend the efficiency growth could be enormous and we could really tackle things like climate change, tax havens, and corruption.

And now drum roll… The Distribution of sheep in Europe….. Who knew that Wales and Scotland were so world beating in this dimension. We know that East Anglia in the Middle Ages was the centre of the global wool economy. But apparently that has moved to the Celtic fringe… and that is where transhumance lives on as a way of life.
