Is Britain in the Moral Superiority Industry? / side notes on RFK, Hunter Biden, and Tax/migration

Small Minded, Anti-System Thinking
Well… to start with RFK and his campaign… its existence in the US mirrors what Farage/Reform channel here in the UK — an anti-system vote. Both play on hysteria about conspiracy theories, bizarre isolationism, and a desire to return to past glory, while actually abrogating True Leadership.
A good friend of mine who works with RFK recently wrote a substack article where he counsels the US to abandon support for Ukraine and adopt an isolationist posture out of fear of provoking nuclear confrontation with Russia as part of ramping up our aid to Ukraine… I completely disagree with the argument, think nuclear war is largely off the table and more likely if we don’t call Putin’s bluff and show weakness (and not likely if we do show strength), and believe that Blake has misrepresented my argument about the relationship of poker to diplomacy… but the article is of interest as it is a very well written and carefully thought through and elegantly crafted explanation of an anti-system, anti-centrist, isolationism.. which is apparently so relevant right now in gaining adherents across the Developed world. Scarily wrong headed. It is amazing how both the Trump’s, RFK’s, and Farage’s of the world want the US/UK to be less involved in Europe but also to return to past glory. Well duh… Past glories came from global leadership and the most important chess square on the whole board is Ukraine/Eastern Europe… and that is where we need leadership… Hello, McFly.. Well it is worth studying these ideas even just to make fun of them…
Make no mistake about it RFK is anti-system in everyway. Not just his talk about the vaccine. He abhors the idea of an international order. He is an enemy to all us mega-orderers… In a televised talk with Piers Morgan yesterday ‘RFK Jr. Compares Gaza to Nazi Germany in Argument Against Ceasefire: ‘We Killed About 2 Million Germans’ to ‘De-Nazify It’’. He suggests complete annihilation of Gaza’s population. This is crazy/truly genocidal talk. And yet people blame Biden who has a sane/centrist policy and look to RFK as a real alternative. He maintains a Cartho-deleto-est view of Gaza.
Today, Germany is the richest country in Europe, it’s one of the most powerful economies in the world, I think it’s the fourth most powerful, and nobody is scared of Germany because it’s a peaceful country. And today, Hamas, which has authoritarian control, hasn’t won an election in 16 years, of Gaza is a corporate kleptocracy and it’s absolutely intent on one issue and one issue only: to annihilate Israel and to kill all the Jews….
before declaring that the Allies had to kill “about two million Germans” to “de-Nazify” Germany.
This is RFK’s way of saying wipe Gaza from the map. Psycho shit.
RFK represents, these anti-system voters who don’t want leadership but are voting out of fear are being stoked by neo-populists who are afraid of losing their grip on power… hence, the implications from the UK election on the US election are already being felt. Here in the UK we see that taxes and migration are the two Right wing attack points. Even the centre left and working class left are afraid of tax raises and migration… I think if his would work in the UK and we see the Tories/Reform get any traction with these issues (even in a losing effort) we will see this anti-system anti-leadership approach rebound massively across the pond.
Next to Hunter Biden microdrama.
All Americans will be aware of this and many non-Americans may have missed Hunter Biden’s conviction as it isn’t really important news. Firstly, it shows not how similar Democrats and Republicans are but how different.
Trump tries to get off and lie and cheat and steal his way out of his convictions, while Biden agrees to respect and honour the law. Biden shows his true superpower of Empathy in how he deals with his son.
Amidst this manufactured story, we see how the election will be contested not on the real issues but on the fake issues. It showcases how in our times of division and polarization for fake news stories and narratives to take hold a kernel of truth is needed.
Just like conspiracy theories and stereotypes need to draw on slight kernels of truth. Jews occupied a unique role in certain professions in interwar Germany and certain leading communist thinkers had been Jewish… on this flimsy background vast tales of world domination and connections to communism were weaved.
Hunter Biden was a drug addict and he bought a firearm. It is a sad story. He violated the law and was an unwell person. The law allows him to be sentenced to prison for this. But most people who are in that position never get sentenced. The Republicans are already whipping up vast theories of great conspiracies… To connect the seemingly unconnected…
Well Speaking of weaving narratives… back to Disorder
The sordid tale of Tory mega donor, Mohamed Amersi, and his liable suit against Charlotte Leslie was an attempt to turn money into control over the truth. To our mind, there is no greater example of how the underlying principles of our era of Global Enduring Disorder connect bribery in Kazakhstan and Kathmandu to Brexit, the Ukraine war, and shadowy consultancies which offer pay-for-play access to the British elite.
In part 2 of Jason’s conversation with Tom Burgis, the duo talk about some of the biggest corruption cases in British history, how the complex story of post-Cold War deregulation has fuelled both global corruption and donations to the Tory party. This story has surprising implications for who has access to the British royal family and fundamentally who owns the truth.
After the interview, Jason and Alex ‘Order the Disorder’ by discussing whether increased international co-ordination can curtail illegal money flows, and what a potential incoming Starmer-led Labour government could do domestically to prevent illicit gains from being recycled into campaign donations.
